ABOUT THE BKX PROGRAM
This is a unique opportunity for British Kendo Association Members who have a desire to practice in Japan and also for Japanese Kendo players wanting to visit and train in the UK.
This allows members to experience kendo from Top level Universities to local city – Machi – dojo in various locations around Japan.
The exchange means Japanese players will be coming to the UK, helping the BKA and clubs gain valuable experience, knowledge and friendships directly.
Locations are updated regularly. There is a strict criteria for Candidates who are over 18 years old.
This includes an assessment period that all applicants will need to undertake.
Please note: Some venues have different age restrictions, so please check the details or contact us.
PROCESS OF SELECTION
One:
Please read through the various details contained on this website. That includes the Terms and Conditions for the program.
Two:
Select the venue you are interested to attend.
Check to see if the venue’s criteria is suitable for you. Then do your research on the venue. It’s training methods, kendo levels, location etc.
Three:
Click through using the “Apply Now” button to the Application Forms and other resources.
Four:
Once your application has been received, it will be reviewed, and if you are suitable, you will be contacted and the process of assessment will start. This process could take 2 to 3 months to complete, so if you are on a deadline, please build this time frame into your plans.
Therefore it is advised to book flights and accommodation (if not part of the venue’s offer) after you have been assessed and given the go-ahead.
Five:
Once Four above has been cleared, book flights, accommodation, insurances etc and get ready for your kendo experience.
We PROVIDE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR BRITISH KENDO PLAYERS TO TRAIN IN JAPAN and offer japan partner students to experience kendo in the UK.
