IN JAPAN COSTS
Japan is a great place to visit, and if you research the areas you plan to go well, you can stay and enjoy everything Japan has to offer at a sensible price. Japan is not an expensive place to visit, but you need to PLAN AHEAD.
Remember that you have to manage all your costs, travel, food and accommodation. The BKX Program can only introduce you to kendo, but you must do the rest (though we will help when we can).

Accommodation
The Universities and other venues are not all able to offer on-campus accommodation. But where possible we can arrange it. Below are some approximate costs, but these will need to be verified on application, but for planning purposes you can establish a budget.
KANOYA:
On-site rooms are sometimes available. Please ask for full details on application.
1 room on-campus, per night, is approximately ¥1,500.
For off-campus accommodation, please check AirBnB, local hotels and guest houses.
Hotels will start at around ¥6,000 per person per night.
KAGOSHIMA:
Shigakukan doesn't have on-campus accommodation, so local rooms will need to be sourced.
Please check AirBnB, local hotelsand guest houses.
Hotels will start at around ¥6,000 per person per night.

EATING:
If you are staying off-campus, check with your accommodation if breakfasts are included.
Breakfasts are generally simple, and if using self catering AirBnB, you can eat and live in Japan quite cheaply, so do your research.
If staying at KANOYA on campus, they have a very good student canteen with very well priced self-service meals.
But, if you are not on-campus, please plan ahead, locate the nearest supermarket and stock up on food.
